This guide was developed in the framework of the European Union’s Support Programme to Tunisian Media (PAMT-MediaUp).

Fact-checking is considered as one of the two key principles of journalism ethics. While everyone agrees on the importance of this principle, its implementation presents a number of challenges. This guide has been designed to help the journalists meet these challenges.

It first presents the concept of fake news in all its dimensions and the way these fake news can contaminate the information in Tunisia but also worldwide. The second part of the guide is devoted to the methods and tools to be used to check the facts. Finally, the document presents the fact-checking technique developed in North America in the nineties.
