The EU Ambassador to Tunisia Marcus Cornaro has met the Tunisian health minister Faouzi Mehdi. Both parties discussed the support provided by the EU to the COVAX initiative, with a contribution of €500 million to ensure access to COVID-19 vaccines for low- and middle-income countries.

The meeting also focused on the cooperation programmes, the EU being the main donor in the health sector in Tunisia, with financial commitments greater than 230 million Tunisian dinars.

The European Commission is committed to ensuring that everyone who needs a vaccine gets it, anywhere in the world and not only at home, and promoting global health. This is why it has raised almost €16 billion since 4 May 2020 under the Coronavirus Global Response, the global action for universal access to tests, treatments and vaccines against coronavirus and for the global recovery.
