Parliamentary Assembly of the UfM welcomes the renewed partnership EU- Southern Mediterranean countries and its Investment Plan

The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Nasser Kamel, participated in the 16th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the UfM (PA-UfM), which took place in virtual format on 16 February.

The annual gathering of the 280 members of the Parliamentary Assembly focused its debates on the important topic of “the fight against climate change in the Mediterranean Region”.

The Vice-President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, who chaired the meeting on behalf of President Sassoli, reiterated the importance of a global joint approach at an Euro-Mediterranean level to positively address this common challenge, saluting the recent adoption of the New Agenda for the Mediterranean.

The Secretary General welcomed the renewed partnership with the Southern Mediterranean countries and its accompanying Economic and Investment Plan will help address the pressing challenges faced in the region.
