The Mediterranean City-to-City Migration Project (MC2CM) organised an online event on 13 July 2021 together with the city of Casablanca in order to present their migration profile. Representatives from government institutions, the Swiss Embassy, the European Commission and Casablanca council, as well as some of those involved with migration within the city, all took part in this event.

The aim of the event was to evaluate the process for creating a migration profile for the city, to define all of the actions to be implemented based on identified needs, to coordinate the different integration and development initiatives as well as to improve the coordination mechanisms between the interested parties.

It should be noted that the migration profile is a tool which provides an evaluation of local migration contexts by presenting the main data and trends relating to migration, local and national integration and inclusion policies and initiatives, access for the migrants to human rights as well as basic and social services such as adequate housing. It also analyses the roles of the interested parties and stakeholders concerned, as well as the priorities that are to be dealt with in the future.

The Mediterranean City-to-City Migration (MC2CM) project brings together experts and cities to contribute to improved migration governance at city level, including migrants’ access to basic services and human rights through its three components: Dialogue, Knowledge and Action. The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by ICMPD, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and UN-Habitat.
