Libya receives new batch of COVID-19 vaccines

The Libyan authorities recently obtained more than 240,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from member states of the European Union.

In coordination with the European Union, the World Health Organization and the Libyan Ministry of Health, Malta donated more than 40,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine while Greece donated 200,000 doses of the same vaccine to enhance the health response to the Covid-19 pandemic in Libya.

Libya is currently launching its national campaign to vaccinate against the COVID-19 virus. As of the end of July 2021, the country had received more than 1.3 million doses of vaccines from various sources. So far, more than half a million people have received the first dose of the vaccine.
