TunisiaLebanon: 60 young men and women participated in YEP MED port logistics trainings
The EU funded project YEP MED set its anchor in Port of Beirut community to hold a five-day training targeting Lebanese youth. The event, which took place on 12-16 April aimed at shaping Lebanese youth skills in port logistics arena and ensuring a better employability and job opportunities in Lebanon.
The YEP MED first technical and occupational training program introduced the 60 enrolled trainees to the Lebanese maritime sector and port of Beirut, custom services, supply chain management, freight forward, and shipping lines.
The next YEP MED training courses in Beirut will take place on 17 May and 14 June.
YEP MED aims to develop port-logistics training and vocational (TVET) resources adapted to sector needs to strengthen youth employability; increase and upgrade local employment opportunities through the creation of real dual-learning programmes with job placements, strengthening the role of SME’s operating in the port ecosystems for future employment creation; and setting up collaborative national and transnational partnerships between port-logistics associations, operators, small and medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), training centres and Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers, whilst introducing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) co-management process.
