The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, participated in the fourth edition of the Paris Peace Forum, that was held during 11-13 November in a hybrid format, together with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and Commissioners Jutta Urpilainen and Věra Jourová.

Building on the 2020 edition, this year’s meeting focused on finding multilateral solutions to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 to ensure an inclusive recovery while addressing gaps in global governance: the action gap, the ambition gap, the North-South solidarity gap and the inclusion gap.

High Representative Borrell participated in the International Conference on Libya, co-chaired by France, Germany, Italy, United Nations and Libya.

This conference follows up the Second Berlin Conference held in June and the high level meeting on Libya organised by Germany, France and Italy on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in September, and took place at a crucial time for the country and in the run-up to the next elections which will start on 24 December. This was also an occasion to call for the resolution of the ongoing security challenges, including the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces.
