EU-funded project El-Hiwar II tackles disinformation and promotes fact-checking techniques

A three-day online training workshop on “fake news, misinformation, fact-checking techniques and reliable sources of information on the EU” will be held on 3-5 November for staff of the League of Arab States (LAS) Secretariat.

The objective of this workshop is to contribute to tackling disinformation while promoting reliable sources of information on the EU.

During the training course, participants will notably:

  • Analyse the concepts of disinformation and misinformation and the corresponding challenges and dilemmas they pose;
  • Look into the specific case of disinformation in times of COVID19;
  • Analyse the tools and approach that the EU has been developing over the last few years to tackle disinformation;
  • Strengthen their knowledge and skills in fact-checking techniques.

In continuity with El-Hiwar I (2013-2017), the overall objective of the phase II is to strengthen dialogue, co-operation and collaboration with key regional actors in Euro-Arab relations.
