This meeting focused on the different experiences of the use – at the national level in the context of the Covid-19 – of civil protection medical teams, advanced medical posts and field hospitals, initially structured and prepared for international deployment in disaster management contexts.

Participants could learn from national experiences and jointly identify the new civil protection health care capacities required or the upgrades needed to face the challenges posed by an epidemic context.

Examples of experiences shared: Field hospitals in Bergamo, France and Morocco, utilization of medical teams in the Marche region, Israel, Spain and Tunisia and the activities of the Italian Branch of “Médecins Sans Frontières”.

The overall objective of EU-funded PPRD South 3 is to contribute to increasing resilience and reducing the social, economic and environmental costs of natural and man-made disasters in the ENP South region, based on the results of the PPRD South Program and the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).
