The EU is committed to promoting independent, reliable and credible media. Through several programmes, it provides support to facilitate the progress of media reforms in the Southern Neighbourhood partner countries and reinforce the skills of journalists in the region. It also seeks to help give civil society a greater role both through direct means and through facilitating its involvement. Support to the cultural sector in partner countries is multi-fold; it ranges from supporting reforms, through promoting intercultural dialogue, to supporting cultural and creative industries and crafts.
