The first mobile laboratory for breeding and artificial insemination of honeybee queens has been opened on the left bank of the river Dniester.
The initiative was implemented by the Beekeepers’ Association in cooperation with the National Association of Beekeepers of Moldova and international beekeeping experts.
Thanks to the new mobile laboratory, beekeepers on both banks of the Dniester will have access to high-quality genetic material. This will allow them to avoid crosses between species, solve problems related to hibernation, increase honey productivity and grow the export potential of the region.
The laboratory was supported by the EU programme ‘Confidence-building measures’, which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.
