On 15 September, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the EU sent more than 100 oxygen concentrators to Ukraine. The supplies will help more than 44 frontline hospitals to treat patients with severe illness due to COVID-19.

The assistance covers the needs of the most COVID-19 affected areas in Ukraine, including the regions of Lviv, Chernivtsi, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and the cities of Kyiv and Uman.

The equipment, estimated at over €78,000, was procured by the World Health Organization with funding from the EU as part of the ‘Solidarity in Health’ initiative.

Oxygen concentrators are essential in treating critical COVID-19 patients with low blood oxygen levels.

The equipment will be distributed by the WHO Country Office based on the needs of the healthcare facilities identified by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
