Belarus discusses modernisation of Energy Charter Treaty

On 13 March, Belarus hosted a consultation on updating the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) for its potential ratification. ECT is an international investment agreement that establishes a multilateral framework for cross-border cooperation in the energy industry.

The event gathered over 15 representatives from different ministries and governmental agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

Participants discussed various aspects of the treaty ratification process, including what is expected of the updated treaty and the current cooperation between the parties involved.
